COURSE INFORMATION

Text: Healthcare and Biomedical Technology in the 21st Century

When your injury or illness needs more than a Band-Aid, you’re on your way to your nearest healthcare provider. While you are there, you will be probed, prodded, examined by big machines and strangers will be taking pictures of your insides. It may be the last thing on your mind in that moment, but do you know how these machines work?

In recent years, the applications of technology in healthcare have exploded, be it MRI’s or fabricated organs. After reading Healthcare and Biomedical Technology in the 21st Century, you will be able to understand the ins and outs of these technological advancements. This discovery-based course uses interactive lectures, case studies, and hands-on classroom activities to give non-science majors a basic understanding of biomedical technology and the opportunity to someday make informed decisions about their own healthcare.
